A BRIEF HISTORY OF RHYME....

Part one of the Zoid and Krom story

July 1984 Zoid, age 13, sees legendary hip-hop movie Breakdance. It proves to be an inspiration. Some cardboard is acquired from behind Burtons in Northfield and much of that summer is spent breakdancing.

Jun 1985 Krom sees the same movie on video. Thinks its "shit".

Jan 1986 Last recorded incident of breakdancing at a Bournville School disco.

Nov 1986 During a drama lesson at the above school, Simon Burrows and Martin Green improvise a sketch featuring a fictitious world breakdancing championship. Ignored by pupils and staff alike, the sketch defines two talentless, hip-hop obsessed youths by the names of 'Zoid' and 'Krom'.

Jul 1987 Having passed (most of) their O levels, 'Zoid and Krom' (as they are now known) spend the last two days of the summer holidays jamming on a £99 Casio keyboard. It is only when the album is 'mixed down' on an Amstrad tape-to-tape machine that a name is decided on, "Space Time". Predictably, it is a crock of shite.
